Vertical clitoral hood piercings
Vertical clitoral hood piercings take about 4 to 6 weeks to heal completely. This type of piercing is undertaken through the clitoral hood. Before doing this type of piercing, it should be ensured that the hood is large and can support the jewelry. This can be determined by using a lubricated cotton swab. If the cotton swab fits appropriately below the hood, it can be assumed that the jewelry would also fit appropriately as well. The vertical clitoral hood piercing tends to arouse the clitoris. Women who find direct touch uncomfortable may also find such a piercing discomfiting. However, females who prefer direct touch and desire to be aroused may prefer this type of piercing. A needle receiving tube is inserted between the hood and the clitoris to perform a vertical clitoral hood piercing. The piecing is undertaken from outside and the needle is received in the tube. It has been observed that some females have lost sensitivity to the jewelry in course of time. According to them, the excitement which they felt when the jewelry was initially placed reduced with time. Usually, this happens not because the clitoris loses sensation, but because the wearer gets used to the jewelry over a period of time. In this situation, the jewelry should be taken off for some time and then used again. This would again make the user feel like the piercing is new. The jewelry can be changed from a ring to a barbell or from a barbell to a ring so as to increase or decrease the contact between the jewelry and the clitoris. In case of a barbell, the ball at the bottom is placed on the clitoris and the ball at the top is placed over the clitoris shaft. Some women tend to find barbells more exciting. An increase in the gauge of the jewelry may lead to increased stimulation. Captive bead rings having a gauge of 10 to 14 and a gauge of 3/8 to 1/2 inch are ideal for use in the initial stages. The diameter of the ring should exceed the distance between the tip of the hood and the piercing by at least 1/16 inch. Straight and curved barbells having a gauge of 10 to 14 and a length of 5/16 to 1/2 inch are considered ideal. Normally, the length of the barbell should be roughly equal to the distance between the tip of the hood and the piercing, such that the ball at the bottom of the barbell extends from the hood. When the barbell is of this length, it can be held and cleaned easily. It becomes easier to check whether the balls are secure. When shorter barbells are used, the ball remains under the hood entirely. Some females like a short barbell better than a long one. The length of a barbell can be reduced after the piercing heals. Beads that have a diameter of 7/32 to 1/4 inch are more exciting because of more weight and surface area. In case the wearer likes pressure or abrasion during sexual intercourse, jewelry having a thicker gauge can be utilized. Jewelry having a thicker gauge is more comfortable to the wearer and there is less likelihood of pinching or tearing.
