Triangle piercing
A triangle piercing takes about 4 to 6 months to heal completely. The triangle piercing is undertaken through the loose tissue that is located below the clitoris shaft and above the intersection of the inner labia and the clitoral hood. It is done in a horizontal fashion. The triangle piercing is so called because the area of the piercing can be felt as a triangle when felt with the fingers. When the jewelry is pulled or flipped or on applying pressure, the wearer can get aroused with the help of this piercing. The success of the triangle piercing depends on the build-up of the wearer. For a successful triangle piercing, it is necessary for the clitoris and the tissue around it to jut from the pubic bone. The clitoris and hood may withdraw when the piercee stands up, due to which the piercing may become painful and uncomfortable. Hence, in order to make the piercing comfortable, it is necessary to select the location of the piercing and the jewelry with great care. If a female has a small pubic area and/or a bulky outer labia or her thighs tend to apply pressure on the pubic area, she might find this piercing uncomfortable. This is because in these situations, the ring might get twisted. Hence, when this is the case, a ring in the shape of a teardrop should be used rather than a round ring. As the shape of the ring is narrow, it does not get trapped between the outer labia. The ring does not twisted or pulled, thus reducing the chances of migration or tearing during the healing process. Rings having a width of 1/2 inch and a length of 5/8 inch are most commonly used. If the ring is of a thicker gauge, it would also help in reducing the chances of twisting, thereby preventing migration and tearing. Circular Barbells or captive bead rings having a gauge of 10 to 12 and a diameter of 1/2 to 5/8 inch are considered to be suitable for use in the initial stages. The diameter of the ring should ideally exceed the width of the piercing by at least 1/4 inch. If the ring is very small in diameter, it might lead to narrowing of the piercing, due to which migration and scarring might occur. As triangle piercings have the tendency to swell in the initial stages, the ring that is chosen should be large enough to be worn even with the swelling.
