The elevated tissue fold below the Helix is called the Rook. Before piercing the Rook, it should be ensured that the tissue is strong enough to support the jewelry. The jewelry tends to migrate if jewelry having a large gauge is used in a narrow Rook. However, even micro jewelry or jewelry with a thin gauge may also migrate. Ball Closure Rings, Curved Barbells and PTFE Barbells are ideal for use in a Rook piercing.
