This piercing refers to two different tissue piercings connected by a single barbell. Two separate pieces of jewelry can be used in both piercings to allow the healing process to take place separately, but usually a single PTFE barbell is used to connect both, which helps in decreasing pressure on the tissue. It is necessary for the piercer to carefully mark the piercings so that the gauge can easily travel through them. A gauge of 14ga (1.6 mm) is generally suitable.
