The tissue fold that is below the rook and close to the ear canal is called the Daith or the Crux of Helix. The tissue should be strong enough to support the jewelry. Sometimes, the daith is thin and hence, micro jewelry having a gauge 16 or 18 is generally used. The diameter of the Ball Closure Ring should only be a little more than the thickeness of the tissue. Rather than choosing straight barbells and labrets, you can choose curved barbells.
A Daith piercing takes about 8 - 16 weeks to heal completely.
