Christina piercing
A Christina piercing takes about 4 to 6 months to heal completely. This piercing is made through the intersection of the mons and outer labia that forms a V shape. It is undertaken in a vertical fashion. The tissue at the area is quite thick and for this reason, the healing time of the Christina piercing might be long. The success of this piercing depends upon the build-up of the piercee. Such a piercing should be undertaken only when there is a well-defined flap of tissue that can support the jewelry appropriately. In many cases, this area is pressurized on account of movements of the leg. The shape of the area might also get changed. This fact should be kept in mind while deciding the position of the piercing and the type of jewelry to be used. Due to the pressure placed on the area as well as the intensity of movement, a Christina piercing might migrate or be rejected. Curved Barbells or Straight Barbells having a gauge of 10 to 12 and a length of 9/16 to 5/8 are considered to be ideal for use in the piercing in the initial stages. Ideally, the length of the barbell should exceed the width of the piercing by at least 1/4 inch. A Christina piercing usually swells up in the initial stages. Hence the barbell that is selected for use should be large enough so that it can accommodate the swelling. This piercing is usually 1/2 to 5/8 inch in width. Hence if the ring is very large, it might jut out against the clothing and prove to be uncomfortable to the piercee.
